The Love of Dance
Hey all! I know it has been insanely too long since my last post and I have no idea why... Oh wait, winter recital. That's why. Ha! We were so busy with starting the studio up and getting ready for our recital that I have completely neglected my blog. I apologize because this is one of my favorite things about getting to have our own website. I love writing. I may not have the best grammar but I absolutely love getting to share little tidbits of my life that others may be able to relate to.
I have had so so so many things to be thankful for in the 2016 year. I never even dreamed one day that I would be teaching dance to students that share the love for the art as much as I do let alone, open my very own studio. Crazy... 2016 brought with it so many amazing firsts! Just to name a few, we went to our very first competition, had our first recital, and had our first season. I sit here and think about how insanely special it is for all that to be our LAST first. But here we go with our first, second season. :)
Today, I write with much appreciation for my business. It has brought meaning to my life and so much joy to my soul. I am so grateful for all those that have spoken kind words about Soul Steppin' and it's mission for our students. I am so grateful for the support of the parents that have brought their children through our doors and believe in making Soul Steppin' great. We wouldn't be able to do what we do without you!
With all these wonderful things and being in the public eye, I was reminded the other day that you are more subject to ridicule of others. May be those that don't have the same outlook as you or are threatened by your success. It's my job as a teacher to exhibit compassion and forgiveness to those that wrong us. I want my students to be able to rise above negativity and gossip. The most important thing about walking into our studio is that we are all here for one thing. THE LOVE OF DANCE and that is why I do what I do!
